In addition to being a full-service, 8(a) and HUBZone certified construction contractor, RBV Contracting is a Certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), which is something our team is very proud of.
RBV is named after our founder, Rodolfo “Rudy” B. Villarreal, who grew up in Sabinas Hidalgo in the Mexican state of Nuevo Leon.
Humble Beginnings Lead to Long-Term Values
Rudy has had a wide range of life experiences that have gotten him to where he is today. Growing up in Sabinas Hidalgo, he was a member of a successful extended family who set the example of hard work and perseverance. He attended the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León at the Maderas Campus in Monterey, about 60 miles from home, where for several years he studied Business Administration and Business Law.
Rudy’s father was employed in construction as a skilled tradesman and Rudy was always fascinated with building, which eventually led him to follow in his father’s footsteps. Rudy found employment working in various trades with a mason contractor, a steel erector, and as a field supervisor for a large mechanical contracting firm.
Rudy, who is fluent in multiple languages, moved his family to the United States in search of new opportunities and a better life. They eventually settled into the vibrant Latino community of Detroit, where he remains today. Rudy has not forgotten the values he learned from his family: honesty, integrity, and hard work. As the founder of RBV Contracting, Rudy embodies these same principles, setting the example of high standards and hard work
A Community Honor
RBV Contracting is a member of the Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (MHCC) and our team was excited to see Rudy selected as the “Member of the Month” for January 2019.
The MHCC promotes economic advancement, growth and sustainability for its members by enabling access to business opportunities and developmental resources. We have found great value in being a member with MHCC and can see that the membership reflects the diversity of Hispanic businesses in the state of Michigan.
Committed to Community
Our team is dedicated to giving back to the Hispanic community. Most recently we have supported Wayne State University’s Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers by sponsoring students’ travel, accommodations, and conference fees for the SHPE National Conference. Last year, our team also volunteered equipment and labor for the renovation of the Latino Women Empowerment Center in Southwest Detroit.
We are proud of RBV Contracting’s unique story, and as a team we will continue to be involved with, and support, amazing local organizations. We are looking forward to a successful and productive 2019!
