Digging Detroit and Brush Park: The City Modern Project

Project:

City Modern

Location:

Detroit’s Brush Park Neighborhood

Value:

Over $4 million

Client:

Bedrock Detroit

Completion Date:

Summer 2018

Centrally located in Detroit’s Brush Park neighborhood, the City Modern project is yet another partnership between RBV Contracting and Bedrock Detroit. We have had the honor of working with Bedrock, THE leading full-service commercial real estate firm in Detroit, in the past and, due to the success of those projects and the impressive work done by our team, Bedrock reached out to RBV regarding the City Modern project. Bedrock shares our passion for Detroit, and this project lays the foundation for an ongoing relationship on large projects in the future.

During the City Modern Project, which is due for completion in summer of 2018, RBV will complete all site clearing, earthwork, underground detention systems, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, water lines, soils remediation as well as managing the primary electric, hardscape, and landscape for a turn-key site for the property owner. It is one of our largest projects, and we are excited about any opportunity that helps us revamp Detroit and build up the city.

The neighborhood, frequently referred to as Brush Park, was once an upscale residential neighborhood founded by entrepreneur Edmund Askin Brush in the 1850’s. Sadly, it’s heydey didn’t last long, and the town nicknamed, “Little Paris” due to its architecture, was affected by depopulation, blight, and crime. Only recently has the neighborhood experienced restorations of its historic buildings, bringing new residents and life. RBV is honored to play a part in the growth of Detroit and its neighborhoods, especially a neighborhood so close to another project, Little Caesar’s Arena. Brush Park is located in a prime spot, next to the arena, Ford Field, and Comerica Park.

As this project progresses, we look forward to working with Bedrock, contributing to the growth of Brush Park, and continuing to dig Detroit.
